From Pieces to Perfection

Transforming a dining table into a mosaic masterpiece involves several steps, each requiring precision and creativity. Here’s a look at the process:

1. Design Concept

• Adhesives: We use high-quality epoxy resin ensure that each piece stays in place over time, even with daily use.

3. Surface Preparation

• Tabletop: The tabletop surface must be prepared meticulously. It is usually sanded and cleaned to ensure the adhesive bonds well.
• Outlining the Design: The sketch is often transferred onto the table surface as a guide for laying the tesserae.

4. Placing the Tesserae

• Starting Point: Artists typically begin from the center of the design or from one edge, working their way outwards.
• Precision: Each tessera is placed individually, requiring patience and a steady hand. Spacing and alignment are critical to achieving the desired effect.
• Cutting Pieces: Tesserae may need to be cut to fit specific parts of the design, especially around curves and intricate details.

5. Grouting

• Filling Gaps: Once all the pieces are in place, grout is applied to fill the gaps between the tesserae. This not only secures the pieces further but also enhances the visual impact.
• Cleaning: Excess grout is cleaned off the surface, and the mosaic is polished to bring out its colors and shine.

6. Finishing Touches

• Sealing: A sealant is applied to protect the mosaic and ensure its durability.
